Description

This online course provides essential information about manual handling hazards, their prevention and control. It aims to help workers understand how to carry out manual handling tasks with the minimum risk of injury. On completion of the course you should: - have an understanding of the injuries that can arise from carrying out lifting and moving tasks incorrectly; - know about the legal requirements relating to manual handling and the use of the equipment and how they are applied to minimise the risk of injury; - understand the mechanical forces affecting the body when lifting; - know about good lifting and moving techniques; - have an understanding of the approach to be taken when handling and moving people, including bariatrics; - be aware of the benefits derived from good handling procedure, the use of appropriate equipment and efficient room layout by means of ergonomic design; - know about sources of information and further advice.
